Faith Leads Forward, Fear Holds You Back

Faith leads forward because it’s born of hope and hope is always about expectation—expectation of what’s to come.


It’s looking ahead with anticipation that a good God has good things planned for you. And since He already given you His best in Jesus, what good thing could He possibly withhold from you (Romans 8:32)?

That’s faith and it’s what pleases God.


When faith calls, fear tries to hold you hostage to your past.

I’m LIT!

Maybe you’re a millennial or you have children who are millennials or younger. Then you’ve said or heard the term “lit.” And if you’re like me, you were confused, maybe even concerned, because back in the day, lit meant intoxicated.

But let’s leave our college years out of this, shall we?

I love a good carnival jump up. So, I understand why you'd call this lit, but I can do you one better.

#Jesus Strong

I’M known as the “strong friend.” The one people turn to for advice. The one touted as focused and driven.

I understand where the reputation came from: a girl from the Bronx, determined to become a pediatrician despite getting turned down by several med schools, then struggling through med school and somehow completing two residencies. I get it, but just reading that last sentence drains me, remembering all those years of pressure and grinding.

Because for all the praise we give “the grind,” we forget the grind also wears us down.
